Here is a pic where you can see my windshield damage from the weekend of 8/18. Look at my club sticker on the windhsield. The hole is right on the "N" for IN TOO DEEP... There is a hole in the windhield and the roof is pulled back some!!!!

http://wrev.org/labor_day/2001/P1010034.JPG

Well, are group went down to Tri County Fairgrounds this weekend for the Rock Crawls and Sand drags... We got there early on Saturday morning and set-up camp then went and registered for the crawls and drags.

I ran the long wheelbase class as did my brother with his K5. There was only one other guy in that class and he had a lengthen CJ7. When I went up to register, i pulled and freakin low number and had to go first.
So I get out on the rocks and made it about 1/4 to 1/2 way through the course and BAM! somehting broke. First thing I thoguht of was a u-joint in the rear shaft. But to my dismay, the rear shaft was intact and I only had front wheel drive. So I made it a little bit farther then decided to pull off because it was getting a little worse and I didn't want to break somethign else.
So I limp back to our camping area and find a nice size hole in the diff cover where somethign blew out of it!!!! I got the cover off and found that shattered the two spidaer gears on the cross shaft, a tooth off one of the side spider gears and a tooth off the ring gear. i didn't have extra parts with me so i had to run home(about 45 mins one way) and get parts to put Emmett back together.
My brother made it without breakage.. And since there were only three in our class we all got paid spots. I got $7 and my brother got $12 .
Then they ran the shortwheelbase class and my friend with his CJ5 put on a good, crowd pleasing show! He has a custom rear suspension set-up. Basically, it is a 3/4 elliptical set-up. He pulled onto the course and got to about the same place I did when his rear axle decide to move over and he had one tire completely out from under the Je*p... It was an amazing site and most everyone around us thought he was done! But he put it in reverse and backed up and it all popped back into place!!! He made it through the course farther then broke a front wheel joint. But he fixed the joint and made it back out for the other runs.

Now onto Drag racing. Three guys in our group ran. A cj5, a cj7 and a K5. The 7 broke a front driveshaft and had to run the rest of the night in 2wd... Ryan, in the k5, kept missing third through his runs, but was still winning. Then when he finally caught third, he lost.

Then on Sunday, a few of us decided to run down to Wellsville to do some trail riding. none of us had ever been there before, but figured we would go since we were close by. Some guys on fourwheelers were leading us around to some cool places and then we parted way and started exploring. then we ran into some guys with Dunebuggies and they said they woudl show us alot of good trails. So after they got their one broke buggy fixed we were off. there are some cool trails out there and alot of rutted out one that get ya flexed up pretty nicely.
Then we went down a long hill that was rutted out and had two large drop offs on each side. It was very scenic !! On the way down I hit a long hanging branch on the drivers ide, but nothing abnormal. Then on the way back up I hit it again but didn't see a broken off branch nub hanging off ot it! The nub went through my windshield and dented my roof where it meets the windshield! Hopefully that wont be too hard to fix!!
The only other damage we had was a blown out trailer tire on the way home so my friend Shawn had to pull his CJ5 off and drive it the rest of the way and chain up the axle on the trailer.

I will try and get some pics of the windshield and see if anyone else got pics of the drags or rock crawls. I am single now so I dont have someone to take pics for me so i will see if anyone else has any I can post!

All in all, we had a great weekend!!!!!!

Mike

Sounds like you guys had a blast... get some pics up! I also blew my 10 bolt this weekend. May that POS rest in pieces. Gotta love tha sound of spider gears jumping around inside the pumkin. Good thing I have a 14b/D44 waiting to go in.

Well the rims are cheap, and you can keep the tires...if that makes you feel any better. also the 14 bolt can be shaved for better clearance.

Hey, keep this post marked the next time someone says a 10 bolt/12 bolt can do anything............I know you take care of your rig and still had a shrapnel bomb go off back there.

Gosh dang! Now if you had the ck5 sticker on the top, it woulda made that part of the windshield so strong that you wouldn't have gotten a hole in it [IMG]

It's been lovely, but I have to scream now.
