what is the best all around motor trans combo for a 72 blazer? I use it for offroading at glamis in the sand, and for towing a 26 ft enclosed with a buggy. Weekend driver around town. I was thinking 454 motor, and turbo 400 trans. any advice is welcome

    Sounds good to me.
    A 454/ TH400/ NP205 would be a good choice.
If I was towing a 26 foot trailor I would want to have at least 3/4 ton axles, or 1Ton's.

I'd say if you want to go wheelin' in the sand and Towing a big trailor I'd want the big block for tons of TQ and HP. I'd say a big inch motor is the way to go. 454 or 502.
It's a trade off for gas milage though. My wild big block vs. mild smallblock gets about half the gas milage the way it's built up.
