    Motorcycle tech help - 78\' KZ400 help!

I cant find a motorcycle forum. Maybe somebody has a Kawasaki bike similar to mine. Its a 78' KZ400, and it has a charging problem. The battery slowly dies as the engine runs. I tested the rectifier and it seems to work. I also tested the output AC voltage from the stator and it was putting out about 60 volts or so. Am I forgetting to check something.

Everything else is golden on this bike, I really want to get this bike going so any help would be grateful.

have you checked the power at the battery cables with the bike running? Also, have you had the specific gravity in the battery checked. Motorcycle batteies are notorious for "temporary" charges.

Well, I figured out the problem when I checked the amp draw which was excessivly high. So I started disconnecting lights until I found the shady headlight that somebody jb welded the incorrect light bulb into it /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

Hey, the battery was bad also /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif, my bro happened to have the same battery brand new in box. So I filled her up with some fresh electrolyte, and now it stays charged. WOOHOO!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
