i was driving home today down a street at the end of my block, there's a schoolzone there. so everyone slows down like they should. some idiot in a toyota pick-up in front of me decides to stop instead /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif i slam on my brakes as hard as i can with both feet and miss this retard by about a foot. then i look in my mirror just in time to see and feel a mid '70s ford 2wd F-250 wrapping it's grille around my rear bumper. i'm like "****!!" /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif hoping she didn't mess up my doors and quarter panels we pull over onto a side street and get out to look at the trucks and talk.

    her: you ok? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
    me: yeah i'm fine
her anything wrong with your truck?
me: (upon inspecting) no everythig is cool here /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
her well my husband won't be happy about the truck but oh well
me: yeah you messed your grille up pretty bad there
her: yeah but it can be fixed /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
me: cool nothing's wrong with my truck /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif gotta love these old GMCs
her: well if everything is ok then shall we leave it at that?
    me: yeah no problem
    her: thank you

result: one more ford in this world has learned better than to mess with an old GM truck.

damage: to the ford, both headlights, and the whole grille. to the suburban, NOT A DAMN THING!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Should have taken her for the cost of a new rear bumper. She would have still made out over increased premiums. If you were in Denver, CO Frank Azar could have gotten you as much as he could as fast as he could /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

I had a kid in an escot rear end my bone stock '58 long bed Apache 32. All it did to mine was knock some paint off the bumper. He had 2 headlights, grill and radiator ruined, hood buckled and shoved into the windshield, windshield cracked. Cop that showed up couldn't stop smiling, me either after seeing the kid was ok. Old chevys are ford killers for sure. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Doesn't matter what you drive...if you get rear ended most of the time you do much better than if you're doing the rear ending. I got rear ended by a 77 F-100 that hit me at 55 mph while i was stopped at a red light. The only clue it was a Ford pick-up was the box...and even that was badly damaged. My tailgate got wrecked as the tire and carrier took a lot of the impact...but I drove it 300 miles home./forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I've been rear ended prolly a half dozen times over the last 20 years and i've always come out ahead in the damage department.

I almost rearended an Envoy this afternoon. I was looking at a Tahoe next to me, all of a sudden I looked forward again and there were people at the stop light. There was no way I could stop in time. I locked down the brakes and was lucky enough to swerve into the right hand lane nearly skidding into the side of her after going towards a light pole.

Lesson learned: don't go so fast and pay attention. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I could have really done some damage and injured someone. I was really lucky today.

    87 blazer vs. 80's delta 88
Delta 88 damage -grill, lights, hood, both fenders, radiator, intake, carb, driverside valve cover, ac pump
(talk about wave as you go under)
87 blazer damage - quarter size dent in the gas tank and not even a scratch on the reese hitch!
Of course she had no insurance and nothing else happened since her husband worked at a body shop. Probably had to with her driving skills!

he he, How about a k5 vs motorcycle /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif about 10 yrs ago I had to slam on my brakes to avoid a near pile up of 4 vehicles (it is safe to be lifted...can see everything). Anyhow, 2 obese males on a Zx500 (or something of small nature) weren't watching, and I sat there staring at them through my rear view window as their eyes light up and two massive bodies on 2 skinny wheels collide with my rear bumper. Needless to say I only had a 3"scratch on my chrome, while those two 'watermelons' lay in a pile of bike parts and fiberglass. They were fine because they starting bitchen me out for stopping, so I told them they were right and I should've drove through the stationwagon full of kids in front of me. They said they're "going nail me and press charges and have me pay for the repairs." I haven't laughed that hard since my friend shite his pants in highschool. I had just finished studying highway traffic codes etc and for humor decided to let him call local PD for a report and 'legal-action'. Funny thing, I said as soon as they get here, they're going to tell you to get this pile shite of the road and it's your fault...sure enough. I waived the report...I had enough fun for the day /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Just as I was hoping someone would rear-end me so I would have my own story... Today I went to pick up my Burb from my grandmother's house and when I got there she said she had backed into my Burb with her Caddy. She's really rich so she wasn't too worried about it and I thought it was funny as hell cause it put a big dent in the trunk top of her Caddy and did not put a single tiny scratch on my Burb. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
