Happy holidaze everyone!! I have a quick question. I was thinking of getting flowmaster exhaust for my baby full-size Jimmy. I was told that flowmaster is very loud and obnoxious but that there are units that reduce the resonance to make long drives and respectful passengers not so endowed with perpetuated rumble. Does anyone know where these units are being sold? I was told they're about 30 or 60 bucks and they work well without inhibiting the flow. If not, where do they sell the quieter flowmasters? Thanks to anyone who reads this. I love this site!!

Someone will have the correct series numbers, but I think the 40 series Flowmasters by themselves are pretty mild noise-wise. Do you have catalytic converters? (nothing in your profile so didn't know what year Jimmy you have) If so, they will effectively take some of the rumble out of your exhaust, even if they are Catco high flows. I believe Flowmaster makes three or four different series mufflers, all with different noise levels. Do a search on this board if you get no other responses - this subject, like many, has been done to death.

By the way, welcome aboard.

I've got the 3 chamber Flowmasters and unless you're heavy on the loud pedal they are very tolerable. A friend has the 2 chamber Flowmasters on his 1 ton and they are cosiderably louder.
A full sytem with a crossover tube and 3 chamber Flowmasters would give you a nice throaty sound without being too obnoxious.

I have 40 series and a catco cat,and my exhaust doesn't really rumble, but it sounds prety sweet, especially when I get on it.

Try the new Flowmaster70 series mufflers they are built specially for trucks they work great. low backpressure and are quiet in the cab. My wife drives my K5 a lot and she likes them.

Go to the Flowmaster website. http://www.flowmastermufflers.com. They have explanations of their entire line of mufflers. There are several of them, and I'm sure you can find one to suit your taste, without having to go to these things you are talking about.

I have a 40 series Delta Flow muffler on mine. It has plenty of growl, and sounds REAL good when I stomp on it. However, it isn't that loud inside. Some people dislike it, but I don't mind it much. Kind of a nice throbbing rumble inside. If you need quieter than that, I'd say a 50 series or 50 series Delta Flow muffler would be what you are looking for. Hope this helps.
