My full build is already in the COG /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I just did a quick little highlight over here with a link to the COG thread at the top of the post.

Is that an old school Camaro I see in the background of the picture?

O yeah, how are you going to get the 4 link stiff enough to tow with and still keep flex good?

Today I got the new fuel tank mounted, the main hoop behind
the cab built, and I cut the frame off behind the axle /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

You can see how the frame was cut off then the last 16" was bent in to clear the shocks:

Overall view of bent in frame rails and the fuel tank and hoop:

I saw in the other thread that your using 3/16 for the link brackets. I like that, (I know your going to gusset them in properly) but I think with a truck of such weight, and the tire size your running, you should look into using some weld on washers to add width/surface area to where the bolts go through. Even 1/4" has problems wollering out the holes, even with poly busings on both ends. Just something to think about. You could also make some little plates to weld on.

I wish I had done it in more places on the Freak.

    Something like this...

Yep, that is one of the things I plan on doing. I'm thinking some diamond shaped plates around each bolt hole, using possibly 1/4" plate.

I appreciate your input, been following along with your multiple projects and taking many notes /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

    Thanks...

I know your not done yet, but I was wondering how you planned to brace the link x-member? Lots of leverage on that thing.

Going to run tubing from behind the link mounts forward at an angle and tie into the frame. Then the same thing rearward into the frame. Hopefully I'll have all that stuff done by friday or so... Working on the tube bed tomorrow and I hope to have all the fab done so I can start finish welding everything...
