    i was reading some earlier posts and is it really true that a diesel can go around 300k miles?? when i got my blazer the guy dropped in a 6.5L cuz the 6.2 was bad..but when i got the 6.5 it only had 40k miles on it..which is really good! so i was just wondering???

    It all comes down to maintenance.
    If you change the oild regularly and do not let it overheat, change air, and fuel filters regularly and make sure you don't have water in the fuel, and one more thing, use fuel additives, because the new low sulfur fuel is hard on the engine internally, then yes there is no reason it shouldn't last 300K.

    Your 6.5 probably doesn't have a turbo, but i know that on a turbo application i have seen probably 4 or 5 that blew up under 100,000, and a couple other guys that blew up at 180,000. My 1995 truck has a 6.5 turbo and it has 182,000 on it and running good other then a couple injection pumps. With a 6.5 it all depends on how good of care you take with it, and how much you pull. If you pull lots of stuff it isn't gonna last long because they weren't built quite tough enough. Hope this helps
