I just got in touch with my best friend from back when I was in the Army. First time I'd talked to him in 5 years, since I got out. He spent time in Iraq as a tanker doing the dirty work. 3 guys I knew that were in my unit lost thier lives....That was hard to hear. My buddy, Alex, almost lost his life to a road side bomb that got his humvee. He earned the Purple Heart for it. Heres a few pictures he sent me-

This is the humvee after the bomb went off under the passenger side-

My buddies the one with the shotgun- He said they took the motorcycle from the Iraqi poloce. lol!

    :haha:

They were attached to the Infantry, so he got to play with some cool toys-

Talking to him and hearing all his stories choked me up pretty and brought tears to my eyes. It was really hard to hear about friends getting shot and killed. Tough knowing that missed going over there by about 4 months. He's back now, got out a year ago, lives in Asheville, NC. Has a wife, two kids, a dog, a cat and a good job. :)

Wow that hummer looks like it fared pretty well from the bomb. I saw you said your friend was awarded a purple heart, was the injury serious? It certainly looks like the armor did its job, besides maybe the windshield.

He said "it pretty much killed the driver, but they were able to bring him back somehow".

As for his injury, all he said was it almost killed him, didn't elaborate any further than that. :eek1:

to be honest, im extremely impressed at how well that humvee held up.

there isnt any damage at all to the bottom of the humer. doesnt even look like a scratch.

either way, im glad your buddy is ok.

i had a buddy that would tell me fish stories sometimes, and i knew it, i just went along not to hurt his feelings.
