I have had this plecostamus for about 8 years. He was only 1 1/2" long when I got him. He just died, 14" long! He was a big ass mofo in my 20 gallon tank. I didn't know they got this big, especially since he didn't do a very good job of sucking algae off the glass. I keep telling my GF that we're having fish tacos for dinner tonite, she is sad.:( Just thought I'd share.

Thats a big plecostamus. Too bad it died. 8 years is a long time for a fish to live. Maby you should give a Taxidermist a call. :D

You have my condolences.. Just monday, my older brother gave me his 4 line pimlodella catfish, which was about 8 inches long, maybe 2 years old... he was tired of it, 'cause it just laid there, as catfish do.

My tank is a 45 gallon rectangle, and it needs a big cat, so I was happy to get it.. the damn thing didn't survive 24 hours.. it either didn't like the water chemistry, or my geophagus cichlid kicked it's ass hard.. the thing's whiskers were frayed, it had some bruises on it, and the tank was a little trashed when I found its body tuesday morning.

I'm still pissed about it dying.. it's not like it's the dog or anything, but still.

All I have in the tank now is the geophagus, one pink kissing gourami that is huge, ( my wife bought him for me in 2000 when we got married) a fat tetra, and a betta that I call george jefferson, because he lives in a floating breeding unit, otherwise known as his "deluxe apartment in the sky"..

    Tom

i had one in my 75gallon that was 17 inchs, i had him in a 20gallon tank for a week untill the 75 was fully set up. That big mofo would damn near take the lid off the tank to turn around in the 20g.

i would feed him big chunks of cucumber. they love that chit.

No, I mean George Jefferson.. from the 70's TV show, the jeffersons.. a spin off of all in the family w/ archie bunker, meathead, and edith. George was their neighbor in that show.

The theme song was about george and his peeps achieving the american dream when they move into a high rise apartment - the de - lux apartment in the sky, as they called it.

It's still a funny show after all these years, done back when sitcoms were entertaining.

Here are the lyrics to the theme, so you can sing along:

    We're a movin' on up,
    (We're a movin on up.)
    To the east side.
    (Mo-vin on up.)
    To a de-luxe apartment,
    In the sky-.
    Mo-vin' on up
    (Mo-vin on up.)
    To the east side,
    (Mo-vin on up.)
We finally got a piece of the pie.

Fish don't fry in the kitchen,
A beans don't burn on the grill.
Took a whole lot of trying
Just to get up that hill.
Now we're up in the big leagues,
    Gettin our turn at bat.
    As long as we live
    It's you and me baby.
There ain't nothing wrong with that.

    We're a moving on up
    (Mo-vin on up.)
    To the east side,
    (Mo-vin on up.)
    To a de-luxe apartment
    In the sky-.
    Mo-vin on up
    (Mo-vin on up.)
    To the east side.
    (Mo-vin on up.)
We finally got a piece of the pie-.

I never knew George Jefferson was Archie Bunkers neighbor. That must've made for a few good shows!
