My first stupid Q.... Axle ID help....I\'ve searched

Neither set of axles are stock...
    I don't need danas... I drive toys /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
    I just got a toy with a 350-t350-205-toy axles
    70 k5 blazer with axles and a bad t350-205
78 pickup with axles.....450$...from that guy I talked too alot in lil moab....
They are 8lug axles... The rears are 14bolt. The ones on the blazer I think are FF cuz of the hub bolts. The other rear 14 bolt looks a little bigger. But no hub. I also know of a 10bolt rear on a ford thats got a bigger rear hub that a FF14bolt. So WTF? I have some #'s but nothing off the tubes...I can't pull my head out of my ass far enough to see where the #'s are... I have some off the diff. They don't make any scense in the dana land of #'s....
\The fronts both have 10bolts...8lug. They both have disk...open knuckle.....One has flat top on both sides.......Ahh.. the one on the blazer has a locking hub...the one on the truck is full time..??
I plan to throw some big axles under the toy frame...for the rockbrat.
I just want the blazer to tow it there.
I have 20 more pix left /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif no digimon stuff here /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
can you tell me where to scrub on the tubes to find the right GD #'s?

Lemme see... you are trying to find ID numbers on 14 bolt rears, one FF and one SF? Look on top of the tubes... Get up there with a scraper, a wire brush or something and get to work! You have ID'd the 10 bolts?
    Good luck
    JB

    Try this...

    http://coloradok5.com/axleguide.shtml

Numbers off the tube are pretty tough to find and/or decipher. The axle guide will at least give a visual to ID what you have.

Sounds like a FF 14 bolt and a SF 14 bolt.

Could be a Dana 60 or 70...maybe the Sterling 10.25".

That one is a D44 for sure...Corp 10 bolts never had the passenger side flat top

The truck is a 78...if it's stock it should be a Corp 10 bolt fulltime front-end. Lock-outs can be swapped in no prob.though.

Pulled more #'s....Looked at the dana sight and it didn't help.
    rear axle # 603375 small stamped #'s
    rear axle # 60291
Front axle# on pside knuckle....620215..or...GPUG60301...got letters to the other #'s too.
One front axle has tierod hooking to the bottom of the arms and one to the top....
Rear axle...SF...Diff is low hung and centered....
Rear axle...FF... Diff is kicked off to the Pass side and the pinion has five bolts holding it in..Can be removed?
I have now talked to some gear heads that say If i pull the cover the ring gear will say spling count and or dana #?

Re: My first stupid Q.... Axle ID help....I\'ve searched

the one on the '70 could be an eaton or a dana 60. when did the semi floater start?

    on the front axles, if the cover is round it's a corp10 bolt, if not it's a dana44, 3 u-bolts and 2 bolts/studs makes it a dana 60, 4 u-bolrs is either the corp 10 or dana 44.

    hope this helps.

SF14 means the axle has no rear hub, the axles shafts are retained by clips in the carrier. also your pinion can't be removed from the front, the full floater can(those 5 or 6 bolts allow you to remove the pinion out the front).

and ground clearence is better with a SF i think it's like 1" more (don't quote me on that one,LOL)
