...from the City of Wilmington. It states, and I quote,

    "Dear Ashlin Bass:

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Firefighter with the City of Wilmington. We appreciate your patience during this process.

The selection process has been completed and your name has been placed on the Non-Certified Eligibility List for employment as a Firefighter with the City of Wilmington. The list will be valid for a period of 12 months from the date the first selection is made from the list.

    Sincerely,
    Al McKenzie
    Human Resources Director"

So, is that good news, or should I keep looking?

Keep testing. You may have made the list but maybee they don't have any openings or like in my case when I first started testing, there was 6 openings and 12,000 tested for it.

Sounds like good news to me. What do they mean by Non-Certified Eligibility? Is there more tranning you can take to be on Certified Eligibility?

I don't have my Firefighting I & II Certification. I have some classes from each level, so I'm non-certified. I could take the courses and meet the requirements, but I'd like to stay non-certified so that I can be trained the way they want me to be.

My main reference for this job is my best friend's dad. He's a Battalion Chief there, so I've been getting some tips from him, and he's really pushing my application.

    We'll see...

To get on a professional department here you HAVE to be FF1/EMT basic. There are som many folks who apply with at least those qualifications from a local voulnteer department that they won't even waste the money hiring someone who does not have them.
