My New \'91\'s Dash Cracked Open Today-Ideas on Vinyl Repair?

Guess it was destined to happen eventually. Since I'm catch'n this early, anyone had any experience with those vinyl repair kits? You know, like "As Seen On TV" deals where you sometimes have to mix up the colors and whatnot. Guess I'll be putt'n in a call to/for a Coverlay Dash Cover to protect the rest of it.

As a side note, I put this stuff on after someone told me how they use it on their boat vinyl to keep it from cracking. Not sure what to think but I put it on yesterday and the crack developed today. Anyways, here's a link to their web site: http://www.303-products.com/ It's the 303 Aerospace Protectant.

Thanks for any input on doing the vinyl repair thing.

The same thing happened to me a few months ago. Just remember: scratches, dents and cracks show character.
I will replace it with a new dash when I'm not broke, from Cheyenne Pickup Parts. they sell the whole dash, not just a cover for it.

As 90K5 said, Cheyenne has nice replacement pads.............they recommdned the Urethane one, which I put in my 79. The urethane supposedly will never crack unless subjected to EXTREME heat and/or sun..........probably not one for Arizona dudes but OK for everywhere else. Cost about $200. Have had mine for almost 2 years and am very happy with it. PIcs of it on my site below.......

Mine cracked down the middle just this past week...did you leave yours Black, or paint it?...If you painted it, what type of paint did you use?...I'm guessin' there is a factory type Vinyl paint for this purpose...I have the coverlay on my 79...it's "ok"...don't fit really great, but it looks better than what's under it....JD

I'm at 10th and Plum....10 miles from nowhere, and Plum out in the sticks....Stuck?...Hell no..I still got some gas left..
