My oldest brother had one of those, I remember riding my bicycle into it when I was about 5-6. Lost a finger nail out of that ordeal.

I always loved that car though.

That 283 would be happy with one of those nifty edlebrock tri - power setups.. I keep after my dad to get one of those for his 66 chevelle ( also a four door 283 PG car)

When you say you want " bigger brakes", do you mean you are going for a power disc conversion?

I'd go with urethane body & suspension bushings if you are gonna take it down that far.. we put them on my wife's camaro, and I wish mine had those..

If you ever decide you want to get crazy with adding power, check the frame between the rear doors and the rear wheels, they like to rot away there, regardless of year..

    I love impalas.. we had a 63 when I was a kid ( 327 / PG ), and my grandfather had a 59..

my favorite, a 58 like the one in american graffiitti.

gonna do a 4 wheel power disc conversion,,and I plan on replacing all the bushings as I go along.Gonna run 17x7's in the front and 17x8's in the back 2" lowering spindles in the front to get the stance down where I like it.The floor pans are perfect in this car .It was garage kept until 86 when my wifes grandpa bought it and has sat since 89 under a pecan tree .If he would have parked it under the shed it sat beside instead of beside it ,the car would probally be in great shape.Still not bad just a lil surface rust here and there and a spot on the bottum of the pass. fender.Dont plan on too much power ,looking for a lt-1 or ls-1 with a auto tranny. My buddy has a junkyard and buys salvage cars .I hope to hit the salvage sales with him and pick up an entire car for my swap.

Killer. I'd probably put way too much in that baby. It sounds like you have a good plan going. I wish I had never sold my Chevelle. :(
