The trans (I think) is making this strange clunking noise. If you are at idle, and hit the gas 75%, and then get right back off, the idle drops back to 700RPM (normal idle), and SOMETHING makes this noise like a wrench or something is hitting the tranny casing. Its clunks a few times, and then stops once the drivetrain is under load again. Any ideas?

Fluid levels are all good. TH400, NP205, 454.

Check your trans. mount bolts on the cross member. Maybe they came loose.

<font color=purple> Also, check all of your bushings to see if any are shot ........ If they're all cracked and brittle, replace them with either new rubber or poly ones ........huge difference !

Also tighten the tranny/transfer case adapter bolts. And make sure that the T-case brace is still attached to the block.

same crap happen to me it turned out to be a bolt that came loose and feel off and was just hanging out in the cover that protects the fly wheel so you might want to take your flywheel cover off and inspect to see if theres nothing in there cuz if there is then thats the clunk clunk your hearing
