Here is a tough one. My brother took his engine from his 79 K5 (350) in to a shop to be rebuilt last week. He got the engine back a couple of days ago, but today, he got a part in the mail from the rebuilder that said it came of of his engine, but didnt say where from. We have no idea where the part came from, what it is/does, and have never seen anything like it before. Give me your best guesses as what this part could be:

With that white plastic roller on the end, looks like something to due with the throttle linkage?

Yes, its actually more of a creme colered roller, that will roll around if you push it. Above the roller is a lock washer. I just have no idea what it could be.

Uhhh having owned a 75-79-88 I can say I honestly dont' recall seeing anything that looked like that on any of mine. Put something next to it so we can just scale....what is the thread size?

Like the last post it looks throttle linkage ot me but with nothing to refference the size agains I can't tell if that's 3/16 like a cabe linkage would have or a 3/4 thread clutch linkage piviot.

That appears to be the clutch ball screw that threads into the driver side rear of engine above the oil filter area. Does the vehicle the engine came from have a standard tranny or an auto? Sometimes those are on the engine even though the vehicle is an automatic in which case it wouldn't be used. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

That is indeed a clutch pivot ball. I can't wait to remove mine and urininate on it when I go to hydro clutch here in a month or so. It's caused me so much trouble....

Another vote for clutch pivot ball, though I've never seen one that had the plastic bushing on it. Perhaps that was added in an attempt to keep the ball from wearing away...

BTW, the blazer it came out of is a 79 and has a th350. So im guessing, either the truck originally had a manual trans, or it is not the original engine. Anyways, thanks again. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Pivot ball for the 465 goes on the BELLHOUSING, not the engine, so I'd say that most likely it's not the engine that came in the truck.

it's out of a 2wd or had the dreaded 3 speed (older motor non the lest). our POS 79 c10 has the 3 on the tree with that pivot ball.

i thnk the car trannies used the motor mounted style too (m21 and m22)

On 1st gen Blazers and other '67 - '72 trucks, the clutch z-bar pivot ball looks just like that, and it does screw into the block.
