    napa 447 u-joint doesn\'t fit

I just went to put my Napa 447 u-joint in and it doesn't fit. the inner snap rings should be 2.556" but they are more like 2.656". Has anyone run into this problem. I also have some car quest u-joints 2-3011 with the same measurments. What is wrong? Any help would be great.

Thats not always true... 1330 is for internal lock rings, 1310 is for external. I found this out when I was doing my axle swap. My 10 bolt driveshaft took a 1310 and the 14 bolt took a 1350, so I got a 1310/1350 Cross. I picked up a 1330/1350 Cross first after I read on here then noticed the internal lock rings which wouldn't work.

napa447 didnt work for me either. I took my old caps and the caps from the 447 that fit the 14bolt and got the correct one.. I ended up getting it at carquest... but unfortunalty I cant find the part number.

Many 10B had the gm 3R or something like that not the spicer 1300 series. It is probably not a 1310 or a 1330 but the gm part number instead.

As far as I know it should be a Saginaw 44, which is what the napa 447 is. It should fit but it doesn't. I will try it with the old caps.

Yes, it is a saginaw S44.

Neapco part number 2-1153 will get ya an S44-1350 joint. 3-3140 is a 1310 to 1350 for all you other guys.

2-3011 is just a saginaw S44 joint, not a conversion to put in a 14 bolt. That's why it doesn't fit the yoke on the 14.

Whatever is not fitting, explain it better. What is too big or too small, the caps or the cross?

    Re: napa 447 u-joint doesn\'t fit

The cap diameter is fine but the distance between the internal locking clips on the u-joint does not match the yoke. The yoke is about 2.53 inches inside and the u-joint is 2.656 inches clip to clip. So I can not get the second clip on the u-joint.

It's the other way around for my Ford. Have a hell of a time finding my joints anywhere BUT napa.

Look into the NAPA 372. I had to use this to convert from a 12 bolt to a 14 bolt SF.

Fixed it! I went out and got a Precision 447 u-joint and it fit perfectly. I dont understand it, it should be the same joint but it is not. It's a little different!

Could be (i've had this happen before) that the first one you got was actually the wrong u-joint in the box /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Thats what I thaught so I actually got a second NAPA 447 u-joiont and compared them. They were identical to each other.

Is that why you have a Neapco catalog? I never have it further than arms reach from me when I am posting on CK5. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
