I've been getting random emails about this nation wide Gas-out thing happening soon(april )

ARE WE doing this or what? I've now been getting emailed by people I know who are backing this.

I sort of remember it happening in that late 80's but was over seas anyway.
Not to be a prude or a dumb@ss but I'll include this email that I got. It just seems too far fetched to work?

After thinking long and hard on this one, I've gotta say that the oil companies won't give a rats ass about if we just put off buying gas for a few days. We'll just buy more before and after. I don't think we'll end up buying any less gas, we'll just displace when we buy it. If we have a boycott, we need to go after just one company or else just stop using so dang much gas. And think bout it, they know about this boycott already and are already anticipating it

You really want to hurt the gas companies? Go find that idiot in Florida who sold his 200mpg carb to the car makers years ago.

The government has been yanking us around, and will continue to do so. Ya can't tell me that they can't make a fuel system for a car/truck that quadruples our mpg's? They can, but it's the multi-zillion gas companies that will squash that plan. [IMG]

Just food for thought. I own a 1969 3/4 ton CST Chevy pick up 4bbl carb, 350, 400 trans, 4:10 rear end. I have consitantly gotten 10 miles to a gallon out of it. I also own a 1987k5 350, TBI, 3:73 rear end. I consistantly get 10-11 miles to a gallon out of it. I drive them both conservitivly. My father-in-law own a 1999 3/4ton D*dge with a V8(not sure of engine size) and he only gets about 11-12 miles to a gallon. My point is this.....It just amazes the hell out of me that in the last 30 years and all the engineering breakthroughs that trucks mpg have only increased maybe 2-3 mpg. Maybe someone out there can explain this to me.

I'm not going to gas up on those three days and send a mesage. The message? That we can organize ourselves for a future purpose (unknown to the oil companies). Join us, even if we fail in numbers it's a painless endeavor.

What fumes are the rest of you breathing? Don't buy gas for three days and the gas companies are gonna come crawling on their knees to you begging forgivness for charging you so much at he pumps, and will lower the prices nationwide cause they feel so bad.
WAKE UP! And smell the coffee, roses, or the bathroom when the wife leaves after eating your famous chili. It will not
make a bit of difference. The money has already changed hands. The backs have been slapped and pockets lined and the bank accounts filled diametrically. It will not change a thing.
It is called supply and demand, we demand it ...they supply it. The only way to change it is to not buy gas at all. And that my friends is not a viable alternative at the moment. Grin and bear it...
The only thing you can do is lower your need for gas thereby not paying so much for the use of it.
