I'm just getting back to work and I need to get a warrantied 350 to drop in the old pig. I'm looking to go short block because it would be cheaper. Does anyone have any advice, thanks in advance.

Check out this engine from GM. It's a brand new (not a rebuild) stock 350. These guys are also offering free shipping if you order online between now and the end of the year! [IMG]

i would look for a rebuilt from a shop in your area as they usually have a better warrenty & r cheaper. I found a long bock 350 for $1100 that came with a 3 yr/ 50,000 warrenty even if you installed it yourself. not bad IMHO

Your bio says you have a 86.. That is the oddball engine.. I have a 86 also.. I went to the local chevy dealer and bought there up to 85 style motor. It was $1300.00. But I had to replace the flywheel also..I think that was another 80 bucks. 3 year or 30,000 mile warranty on it....Dan

If it ain't broke.......Don't fix it....

Tim I love the pic on the side [IMG] That's great.

Yeah "Big Pimp'n Rich Westy" [IMG]... that's why he lives in Kan-ASS instead of Beverly Hills... well wait... don't think Beverly Hills would take to kindly to numerous vehicles and one ton axles scattered across the front lawn.

I find that hard to believe! [IMG]

I have only sold 3 D60's to other members on this site and each one averaged a cost of $600. [IMG]

See if you can get one for that cheap from someone like Boyce Equipment!!! [IMG]

That's a pretty good looking engine for under $1300. I like it as a solution to replace my dying 305. Anybody have any experience with this one?

I've got the Goodwrench 350 in my Monte Carlo SS and all I can say is GET IT! I swapped the cam, which voided the warranty. Oh well. Just leave the insides alone for three years and you'll have nothing to worry about. The power gain over the 305 was very noticable in my car, so it should make your truck a little more fun to drive. I've got almost 2000 miles on it and no problems.
You'll also have to get a new harmonic balancer and maybe flywheel, depending on what you have now.

I replaced my 305 with this engine in my old truck. It was deffinitely a good swap. I did however change the cam and oil pump. I know Boss used this engine as well in the 75 he used to have. It's a great little engine for the money.

I have the Goodwrench 350, too. They are supposed to be about 240hp right out of the box, or at least with headers. They are 4-bolt mains. I think Hot Rod or somebody got one to 300hp with just a cam and intake. This is actually pretty good when you look at what the power ratings of the stock 350's were in the mid 80's, not to mention the 305's.

I am happy with mine. The price curve just goes way up from there.
