    what will i have to do to put a timing tab on my pre-1986 chevy 350??

    I will have 2 hrs. to do it tonight...is that enuff time!?

    If you are talking about the little marker with the timing degrees on it you can buy them at an autoparts and two of you timing chain cover bolts hold it on. Real simple to install maybe 15 minutes

    Hehehehehe Been there done that and eyballed it LOL.
    On the back of the water pump you can see the bolts that hold the rear cover on the water pump. that bottom bolt is about in line with 8 degrees before tdc on the pre 85 ballancer.
    Line it up get it on a light hill and lay into it and listen for ping. If you get ping back it off a couple degrees. Looking at the timming mark with top of your head pointed towards carb standing on bumper left is advanced right is retarded.

    you will prpbably have to remove your water pump to get to it but it is a real easy bolt on

    We tried all the tricks, Grim, but thanks for the advice everyone.

    it DOES look like i might need to take the water pump off...not good /forums/images/icons/frown.gif
