I have a crate 350, edlebrock intake, quardajet carb, & accel ignition. When going home every night I have to drive up a hill for like 15 minutes. When the tranny is in 3rd gear and I start to lug the engine a little bit, it starts to ping. Then if I step on the gas a little more it down shifts and it's fine. Also a couple days ago it started dieseling after I shut it off. It has done it a few times now. Is my timing a little off? I put premium in and the pinging was still there just a little quieter. Any help would be great. Thanks

Yep.......It sure sounds like too much timing to me. Mid-throttle pinging is a sure sign, and run-on can be a sign as well.

What's your timing set at right now? Maybe you should trying knocking it back a couple of degrees.....
