I Need an SM465 Model 203 input shaft to build my Transfercase doubler? Or do I have to change my tranny tailshaft?

I have already done this mate and I can tell you that there's a couple of ways to do it. First you need either find a rare 465/203 combo which was made only in 1974 or you need to find an output shaft with 32 splines and get a 203 that used to mate to a 203. I chose the second route since the spline count on a 465/203 mate is only 10 splines and extreamly rare. It's a lot of hard work and when you satr buying pieces of transmissions and transfers the price really gets up there. Also, if you decide to change the output shaft on the 465 like I did, there's two different lengths of shafts and they're only 1/8 of an inch different. If you take out a short one and put in a long one, your gears will be sloppy and vise versa the gears will be too tight. After all this said and done, you need to find a rare 465/203 adapter, which I already said was only made in 1974 and the 32 spline output shaft is teice as long as the adapter, therefore you need to either have a machine shop shorten the shaft,(which costs too much) or build a spacerand lenghten the adapter by 4.25 inches. As you collect the pieces for it you will see what I'm talking about.
As I'm sure you wanted, I chose this setup for strength and the only way to keep the overall strength in the system is to change shafts. Thus gives you 30+ splines all the way to your drive shafts and once together, shouldn't ever have to come apart again. I just got done mating my together and once it's up in the truck and running I'll do a post on it.

Is the 10 spline shaft a male or female shaft?

Give us a call, there's a couple ways to go here, you can use a 465 for a NP208 and mount the 32 spline 203 up to it really easy.
