need quick help!!!!!!! what tranny do i have????

    ok im about to get the tranny in my 1991 GMC 1/2ton 2wd pickup replaced. its got a 350 and wat i think is a 700r4. but a tranny shop just told me that it might have a 4l60 (or 4l80 i dont remember), how do i tell the difference? i know one is all computer and one is TV controled. i have 3 different cables attached to my throttle linkage on the side of the TBI. can any one help me????

    4L60 is the same as a 700R4. 4L60E is electronically controlled. I don't think you would have a 4L80 in a 1/2 ton.

    i got on 700r4.com and looked around and i was able to identify it as a 700r4 thanks!

    Yeah, the 3/4-ton would have a 400, but the half ton has the 4L60, which is a 700R-4 with a new name. The 4L60E is the electronic version. The three cables go to the cruise control, the gas pedal and the transmission.
