I have an 86K5 with "90 Grey Metallic" Paint. In the process of doing more rust removal and body work and was thinking of painting the lower panels (below the crome tape line) with BLACK durabak. Has anyone tried this? I am thinking this may look really good or really bad. Any opinions appreciated.

I'm gonna put Herculiner, or whatever its called, on the bottom 8" or so on my truck. And then put it up under the wheel wells too, and on the bottoms of the doors. I've seen this down, I think its a good idea for keeping rust out. Just don't get any on your HOOTUS lol [IMG]

Looks like we have the same plan. What color are you going to run?
Not sure how the textured finish will look, but like the idea of extra protection against brush, rock and road salt.

Plan on cleaning with POR15 Marine Clean, priming with POR15 Tie-Coat and then painting with Durabak by Sunday (weather permiting). I will let you know how it all goes.

Anyone else out there try this out? Does it look OK?
