....of the romantic kind.

Quit laughing. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Going to make a CD for my wife's birthday Sunday and I'm tired of the same old songs. Need some newer stuff, only I dont listen to newer stuff very much. Country, rock, alt. NO RAP please. R&B maybe. And stuff I can download for free off the net. Now any favorites? New and old...

Hmmm... well couple of songs that do it for me are "Iris" by Goo Goo Dolls and "Angel" Sarah McLachlan.... I also like...

"Valentine" by Martina McBride
"It's Your Love" Tim McGraw & Faith Hill
"I Do" Paul Brandt
"The Man In Love With You" George Strait
"When You Say Nothing At All" Allison Krauss
"I Want To Stand On A Mountain With You" Savage Garden

That's to start... I got more but need to go buy some cough syrup so when I get back I will bombard you with more /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Might have to use another service... Morpheus isn't working that hot since this..... you might have to try some of the other services out there like Aimster, WinMX, LimeWire or AudioGalaxy....... if she likes country like I do I have a list a mile long of good songs /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Maybe it's this?

WHERE'VE YOU BEEN (Kathy Mattea)

Claire had all but given up
When she and Edwin fell in love
She touched his face and shook her head
In disbelief, she sighed and said,
"In many dreams I've held you near
Now, at last, you're really here."
"Where've you been?
I've looked for you forever and a day
Where've you been?
I'm just not myself when you're away."

He asked her for her hand for life
And she became a salesman's wife
He was home each night by eight
But one stormy evening, he was late
Her frightened tears fell to the floor
Until his key turned in the door.
"Where've you been?
I've looked for you forever and a day
Where've you been?
I'm just not myself when you're away."

They'd never spent a night apart
For sixty years she heard him snore
Now they're in a hospital
In separate beds on different floors

Claire soon lost her memory
Forgot the names of family
She never spoke a word again
Then one day, they wheeled him in
He held her hand and stroked her hair
In a fragile voice she said,
"Where've you been?
I've looked for you forever and a day
Where've you been?
I'm just not myself when you're away.
No, I'm just not myself when you're away."

Yeah it sounds like the Kathy Mattea song Aaron said... only other song that comes to mind if that's not it is "There You Are" by Martina McBride (I love this song!)....

Also another one is "Breathe" by Faith Hill..... and I dunno how much of a Wynonna fan she is but the song "Only Love" is one I like... there's also Sara Evans two songs that are good "I Could Not Ask For More" and "There's No Place That Far"..... look into Colin Raye too... he has some great lovie dovie songs! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I also love Kenny Chesney's "Me and You"

Brooks and Dunn's "My Heart Belongs to You" It's sorta a spanishy sounding song and he says 'my heart belongs to you" in spanish. I love that one too...
Uh..
*singing in a horrible voice* "And I.......will always love youuuuuOOOOooo IIIII" just kidding...that song pisses me off../forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Can't forget Randy Travis' "Forever and Ever Amen" <---best love song of all time!

Anything by Faith Hill has been over played IMO, so I wouldn't go there....(she's got good stuff, but they've flogged a dead horse with her stuff *rolls eyes*)

I'll think of some more...

Kidding
Check out... Good Morning Beautiful, that new Martina McBride one about the family, dang what's that name?!
I forgot the all time #1 I do, by John Michael Mongomery!
Good Idea though, let me know how it works.
You can pull up a seach and look fro radio station feeds, downloads for broadcast. I found it once, but it has the songs that they broadcast available for download
Hope it helps.

not so mainstream............

try 'carolyn's fingers' by cocteau twins...........

if you can decipher a single lyric in this song, you're way better than me- but it's beautiful.

Check out Caroline Dawn Johnson...she has a couple of real good tunes. "You are" is a great tune.

Can't remember who sings it but there's another one I'm thinking of called "Shiver"...
