    a sm465 compared to the length of a nv4500.

and were there certain years of 4500's with a lower first than the rest? I think it was the first two years but I want to be sure.

    Thnx

SM465 is 12" long and a NV4500 is just short of 19" if I remember correctly.

End of 93 through 94 NV4500s had a 6.34 first gear whereas after that they used a 5.61 first gear. I think the early ones had a goofy boltpattern also but I can't remember. I know there was some reason that a Dodge one wouldn't bolt up to them. Later Dodge and GMs had the same boltpattern. Dodge ones have different input shaft lengths too I think.

I don't remember everything. I know the information is out there because I found it. I did a lot of research on it about a year ago but I realized I'd never be able to afford one so I dropped it.

the 465 12" length is just the case length alone, and the 420 were 10.5" case length
