Ok well after a few years of problem free use my Sony Xplod unit finally bit it. I am just looking for your opinions of what I should get next. My only preferences are detatchable and motorized face and RCA outputs(at least 2). And a decent amount of power(no amp yet). I am running Boston Acoustics pro series 6x9's in the rear and BA 6.1 Pro Series commponets in the front doors. If you have links to a specific unit it would also be appreciated. I perfer Alpine and Kenwood but am open to suggestions. Looking for tuner/cd, mp3 not important.

i know my next unit will definitely have a internal hard drive. i have over 40 gigs of music i can be storing in there!! i just like the idea of being able to put music on the drive, then switch it whenever you want!!

I perfer pioneer. I like the older model before they switched to the knobs for the volume. I had a DEH-7000R that I literally wore the buttons off it. Now I have a 8000R that is pretty nice. My brother has a Kenwood and it going nuts. Some time the face won't open some time it will close and not open back up Ect. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

I got my Clarion from DBlazer back when he was in the audio business. Its lasted about 3.5yrs without a single problem and never skips. I've even jumped the Jimmy and landed hard and it never skiped a beat.

it totally hangs on what u plan to do. run high power amps and subs, need good preamps on the head unit. want nice clean sound, need a very high signal-to-noise ratio. or go to crutchfield.com and check out some. they got a really nice selection and i planon buying a sony from them (yeah, u guys can laugh at me now, lol) but if i had to choose one, it wouldbe the Kenwood eXcelon KVT-911DVD. sweet monitor and provides great sound. i just wihs i could afford it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gifo well. sony will do. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

So far I have been happy with my Panasonic CQ-DFX983U. It looks cool and is pretty easy to use. Just hooked up My Sirius sat radio to it too. Nice to have the controls inthe head unit instead of a seperate controller. I chose this one over the Alpine of comparable price, if that means anything. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

I vote Pioneer or Alpine. I've had several Pioneer head units and I am very pleased with them. I currently have a Alpine head unit in my DD. Very nice! Couldn't be happier with it. Its the one with the blue buttons...I forgot the model number. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
