question on the first 205 pic. what is it out of? yes i see it is a t400 version but I notice the speedo on the wrong side and i have one like that. was told it was an 80 but then 80s was supposed to be slip yoke no?

Man... thats alot of nice drivetrain components. The best I can do for drivetrains laying arround my house is a blown up 350, and a rear-end out of an s-10, sad.....

I had an 80 205 (and it was originally a slip yoke). I found a spare fixed yoke 205 and swapped out everything but the original rear housing (cast portion with the hole for the speedo assy.). This was because the other housing was clocked differently for the speedo assembly and I wanted to keep it in the same place as it was originally on my truck. Maybe they did the same in this picture as it is labeled as a "rebuild". I don't know as this is not mine, but that would be my best quess.

The rebuilt 205 is out of an 80 3/4ton, it still had the tag on the PTO cover. It was converted to fixed yoke during the overhaul and thats the orginal tailhousing, it also got a 32spline front output shaft conversion.
There are a couple different speedo locations for the GM 205s housings because I messed around with them awhile back for the Ford 205. I might be able to figure out the year change by looking thru my stuff if you want.
