I would like to move up to 35's this means new gears, what would be a good price to have a shop install new gears in my blazer? I have a dana 44 front and 12 rear, and would it be better to install lockers at the same time and how much extra would that be. Just try to make sure I don't get ripped off. I live in atlanta so if atlantan's can recommend a good shop that would be great.

i had 4.11's put in my 10 bolts a few months back with 33's and i bought the gears form randy's about 150 per axle, and about 300 for a lock right for the front. labor was about 400 per. i did not have to pay any extra for them to install the locker, because they just used it instead of the old spider gears.
    good luck

I bought my gears at Summit for around 160 (Richmond Gears) the install kit was around $80. The installation cost me $125 for my rear axle (10 bolt).

I'm a fairly good mech I can pull a engine or tranny but i'm not to sure about gears. don't they have to be aligned or adjusted or heated, or is it easy.

I dont know how to do it, but the backlash has to be set and I know you need to use an indicator. Nothing real difficult, but it is pretty involved.

I can do just about anything but body work to my truck but I wouldn't put gears in it.

If you've got overdrive get 4.56 gears, if you don't, get 4.10s. I have 4.10s and overdrive and I wish I had just a little more gear.

I suggest you put a locker in the rear, probably a Detroit is your best bet. Leave the front open and put a Powertrax in it later if you decide that you need a locker in the front.
