Howdy, all. New guy to the K5 world here.

I've been into hardcore rockcrawling in the past and been dabbling in musclecars recently. Back into 4x4s. Was looking for a "cool" streetable rig to goof around with. Never going back to rockcrawling, just looking to have a fun truck to drive when I feel like it.

(My former rigs include a Wrangler on 60s, cage, stretched on 40s and a neat first-gen 4Runner with dual cases, chromos, ARBs and a supercharged 22RE.)

Today, I picked up a '74 K5 Cheyenne for pretty short money. Every truck I'd seen locally was in the $8 to $10k range. Got this truck for less than $4k, full convertible, 454, T350, small lift on 33s, stock axles. Decent body with a few dings and spot of rust on DS door. OK interior that'll need some cleaning.

Anyway, excited to have a new rig to play with. Truck seems to run very well, minor PS leak and it's blowing gear oil out of the rear diff for some reason. And, I wasn't aware these trucks sit so tall. Damn thing won't fit in my garage :wink1:

Good to be here. I live in Scottsdale, BTW.

Welcome to the best K5 site on the web. There are quite a few members up there in the "armpit" of Az...:D...J/K. I'm sure they will chime in at some point.

Howdy, Joe: Yep and paid the plumber for repiping the house :o

Hope you're enjoying the Chevelle. I know I did. As far as I know, the 10-bolt should be stock, but I never checked the casting numbers. I just pulled the cover off to count teeth to determine 3.08 then put in fresh fluid.

    Welcome FNG... :)

Good choice on the year :)

Sometimes people give me grief over destroying my '75 (well, "modifying" :haha:) So I picked up a '73 last year to restore/ street it.

Took a couple pics today. Selling the 33s and going to go ahead and put 35s on. Gutting the interior. Sucks because the Cheyenne interior is nice, but it's trashed.

Weird that you can't direct link photos on this site using tags? Is there another way?

This rig has a 4-inch Rough Country lift; any input on that? I'll definitely be replacing the shocks. Springs don't seem too bad.

Nah, I doubt I'll ever go back to crawling. My trailer's gone as well as my rig ... and my desire to do it. Here's a pic of my last rig:
