To make a long story short... I may be moving soon and it will be about a 40 mile trip to work. So, I am thinking of getting another CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP commuter car for just to and from work. Did you read CHEAP. The 7mpg Suburban would run me broke. Just wondering what opinions are out there.

Tossing the idea of a Samauri around. Can get them cheap, 30 mpg, plentiful parts. And also 4x4. Since where I will be moving too will not have plowed streets in the winter. Well at least not until days after every where else is plowed.

    Thoughts, ideas?

You could always get an s10 blazer, I had one of those a few years ago and it was great in the winter. I used to snow bog the hell out of that thing.

I had a Tracker for a little while. I don't know if you could find one cheap though, but mine was awesome in the snow./forums/images/icons/cool.gif

The Sammy's are pretty good, but usually no overdrive and that little motor is just screaming on the freeway...

Have you thought of a Subaru? All of them are all wheel drive and they'd get good fuel mileage...

Not too much freeway drving for me. Thats why it will take so long to get to wokr. 2 lane roads.

Thought about suburbus, just dont know what the older higher mileage ones are like. Would like ot be comfortable that it isnt at the end of its life right as I am buying it.

I don't know a ton about them but they sure seem to run forever...

The Sammy's on the other hand are pretty notorious for chucking motor parts when they get high mile...the good part is the divorced T-case allows easy engine swaps. I've seen plenty of Sammy's here with 22R's in em.

Funny you should mention. I have been thinking about this. Just hard to find a bug in good condition around here. They are all junk.
