    I'm having some lawn issues...

But first, if you feel like it, check out my new driveway! After 5 years of getting 5 inches of water in our basement several times a year in the spring, we finally had the new driveway put in. I LOVE it. The only drawbacks are that I have to put wood down to do any jacking or vehicle work on it, and I'll have to take down the fence to get a vehicle into the back yard, where the garage and most of our junk is. But now we can wash our cars, the kids can ride their bikes, we won't get regular flooding, and the house looks 300x better.

    Now my lawn problem:

I just planted a new lawn about a month ago. I put down 4-5 inches of topsoil, spread lawn starter fertilizer, a perfect week of miserable light rain, and we had grass popping up in a week, it's been awesome.
If you look at the last picture in the link above, you'll see it, it's in the island of our half circle driveway.
It was going great until yesterday. I noticed this spiderweb-like stuff growing in patches, and killing the grass where it was growing. So now I have big brown splotches in my perty new lawn.

Anyone have any ideas what this could be and how I stop it??

    The new driveway:

You might want too call a lawn care company too come out and tell you what it is and how too take care of it.

Looks like some kind of fungus, Ill do some digging around for you this week. Ill get it figured out hopefully and get you a plan to get rid of it.. Its definetely not a pet urine problem, its got a slimy look to it and its not yellow like it would be from urea burn, I dunno I guess I have the eyes for this kind of stuff.

I agree. They make some stuff (look at a pet store) that helps the grass after a dog lets fly. You might also try a bb gun. :D

Look at the grass, its not yellow, its brownish gray. More serious than a pet problem

This is a bigger than average house for around here, too. It's very deep, so the frontage is deceiving.

It's not a pet stain problem. For one thing, we've had our pets peeing in the grass all my life, and it's never ruined it. For another, it's in my front yard, where the only pets to pee there would have to be someone walking by with one, and there aren't more than 1 or 2 people that walk their pets by here, and they know how I've been working on this place. Also, the wispy netting in there does seem to be fungus-like.

That looks like "Red Thread" to me. Nasty crap. Get some of the concentrated Round Up. Mix it double strength and spray the infected areas. It will kill the grass, but you'll be able to replant and have it come in healthy.

Oh yeah, if you have pets, keep them away from the areas you sprayed for at least a week or two. Otherwise you will be taking them to the vet.

I've been to my vet more times in the past week than I have my entire life before... He's bleeding us down by the wallet, $700-$750 by this wednesday I think.
