[font=Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif]I thought Christmas was over, but I got another present today! Just received a new 6.2L dual-idler gear drive set for my truck. Now I can't wait to get it installed!

I got a good deal on it too...found a DP member in the classifieds who had a brand new set he never used...he sold the truck before he had a chance to install it. I saved quite a bit of money! [IMG]

You know you've got diesel fever when you get all giddy over something like a set of gears! [IMG]

I'd be giddy too! Cool thing for me is that those are Canadian so if and when I get mine I won't have to deal with brokerage fees and customs BS.

Take some pic's of the install (please!) I'm probably not the only one interested...

dead on timing for the life of the engine! unlike a chain it doesn't flex, but it costs around 460 bucks from what I've seen:(

The best price I've found for the gear drive is from www.kennedydiesel.com

John's selling the kit for $275 USD. The list price from the manufacturer is $326 USD.

But I got lucky and got mine for only $210 including the shipping! :D

The gear drive does give you more accurate timing, easier starting, smoother idling, plus it has a built-in timing and cam advance for a bit more power. All of the reports I've read from actual users state they had better starting, more power, and even better fuel mileage. I hope to soon find out. Maybe by next weekend I can jump in and get it installed.
