Mudzer has a set of those goofy tires on his rig right now... maybe he could tell us about their on and off road characteristics? Neil?

Actually, I have not had a set of tires that rode this good on the highway. I did not balance my tires, and they do not shake or shimmy. I tested them at Disney, and they work well on the rocks. Those who have the video, you should watch the part where I am climbing down the rock ledge on Spillway #2 (the first spillway after the waterfall). With the brakes holding, the tires would grip the rocks and really did not slide off as violent as the other rigs. They work the same way going uphill, typically they dont spin much - just grip and go. Where I was totally impressed was the sloppy muddy ruts on the night run. I drove into a 44" tire size rut filled with water. I turned the wheels full bumpstop and climbed out of the rut without pushing. I am not saying they are a true mud tire. I am sure Gumbo mud would fill the tread voids. But, I think with their multidirectional tread pattern, I think they would clean if spun hard enough in either forward or reverse gears. I have not tested them any further - waiting on my WMS Dual Case installation to really test them. The 38s are the biggest radial they offer in the STS. The sidewalls survived the harsh Disney rock without problems. Very good tire - if you can get over the space age look!

Marv, one thing you will notice - when you take them down to around 7 psi, they get flat quick after that. Sidewalls are spongy - which help to conform to rocks. They are still strong being 6 ply rated. They should work well in the sand, you will want to experiment in sand. Let me know your tire pressures if you dont mind, I will report this info to Interco.

That is WAY COOL. You've come a long way since I saw it last.

BTW, for all the Naysayers- That tube frame was built with an HB pipe bender. Kudos to Marv!!!

It BARELY fits in the garage...! <1" clearance !!

Neil, I let the tires down to 10 psi and they didn't move. 'Course, I still gotta add a lot of weight like driveline, seats, and gas, but I think I'm gonna be running these things flat all the time. I hope my choice to put 'em on 8" rims w/out beadlocks works ok....

    Marv,

Mine are installed on 10" wide rims and I air down to 5-7 psi on the trail without any bead popping off.

I'm running the 42s on 8" wide wheels. I finally got it to work pretty well with only 8 lbs for Terminator. Drove ok on the dirt road, you really don't see much (hardly any) bulge setting still, but they gripped ok on the rocks. Next trail I'll probably try 7 lbs. 10 lbs on Ajax didn't work well at all...
