Remember people, children and adults alike, a gun is a dangerous weapon and is not to be taken lightly, it can cause serious harm or death if misused or abused or improperly handled...

went out and did some shopping this morning and bought me a new pistol..

got a springfield GI 45 with checkered wood grips, comes in a package deal with a hard retention style holster with a 2 mag holster..

anyone have any experience with them? any tricks or tips for tuning it a little?

only difference is mine has U.S. in the middle of the grips...

529.00, gonna pick it up next saturday (3 day waiting period, too far to go during the week) and a couple mags... anyone close wanna go shooting?

Nice. Trick #1 - tune yourself with the new pistol. In other words get a few hundred rounds and head to the range.

any of you guys modded yours internally at all? this one has a pretty light trigger pull, especially compared to my taurus and 20times better than my smith sigma...

Ah, I love 1911's. I have a Dan Wesson PMDP and I love it. I don't have any pics on here though. Do you plan on carrying it? If so I would suggest getting night sights. http://forums.1911forum.com is a good site with a ton of information and good 'smiths that frequent it.

dudge, probably not a primary carry yet, but im not sure, it comes with a really nice set of a 2 mag holster in kydex and a kydex hard retention style for the 1911... guess i really gotta try it and my taurus out first... maybe a ccw would be a good idea too lol

A lot of ranges will have cheap ammo also. Not what I want for around the house, but great to shoot at targets.

No such thing as cheap ammo nowadays. It's taking a hike, it's already went up a lot. I'm getting ready to buy a press and dies and start "rolling my own". You can still reload without breaking the bank.
I haven't got around to getting my CCW yet either. I need to do that bad. The GI's are really good base guns to build on. A guy on 1911 forum built a BAD@$$ one not too long ago. It was so sweet.

Nice. Dig the lanyard. About the only thing NOT on my RIA that I wish was there.

I second the 1911 forum recommendation. Good place. Sorta like the CK5 of the 1911 world.

Now you need a M1 Garand, M1 carbine, M1903 Springfield...

buddy of mine has an m1 garand and a carbine, not fond of either.. i wanted a .45 and it was either gonna be an XD or a 1911, and i wanted both at some point, and he had this in stock, took me 20 minutes to make up my mind between this one and the compact SA he had used....
