new steering arm mandatory for 4\" lift?

next weekend is going to be my only time to install my lift, then baseball starts up. could I limp it home 12 miles away with the stock arm on? i could leave it sitting until I got the new arm, I just need to get it home. also, let me know if you have an old steering arm. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

Yes, you can drive it with a 4" lift and no steering correction.

i wouldnt, the angle of the draglink is to great. It will steer farther one way than the other and may not do what you expect of it in an emergency situation.

Some people lift 4" and drive it around for years. I wouldn't, but some people do.
You can certainly drive it 12 miles.

[/ QUOTE ] Sounds like your drag link is not adjusted properly. Try turning the key on just far enough to unlock the steering column, then adjust your drag link longer (without moving the angle of the tires) until the steering wheel has made one complete revolution. You should find that the steering is more even from side to side afterwards. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I drove my '77 K5 for years with a 4 inch lift and the stock steering arm. But it did drive better once I ponied up the cash for the correct one. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

You should be fine. You just wont have your full steering radius. I know lots of people that have done this.
