Hello everyone, just registered and thought I'd say hi. I've been browsing this site for a couple of months and decided that I'd register and get involved more.

Anyway a little background of what I have:
I bought a used '91 Blazer V-10 4x4 w/ 350tbi about 13 months ago. Just recently I swapped out the stock motor for a GM crate 350HO engine, I used Holley's 502tbi 650cfm unit and had Howell Engineering make a custom chip for the 'puter (took a couple tries, but it works now, LOL). The body is fairly rough, but this is my project vehicle and will eventually replace the body with an aftermarket fiberglass body. I bought it will 158k on the odo, so it has been driven alot. This Blazer is my first Blazer (I used to drive a '96 Ford F150 4x4, but decided on the Blazer for an all-around-vehicle). As I'm still in progress of working on it, I don't drive it 100% of the time, but I drive (in better weather) a '99 Camaro Z28.

Well, I've rambled on enough so I hope to enjoy future discussions on the board. Later, Josef

Welcome to CK5! Sounds like a good start. There is another guy in MI that recently (within the last 5 days) posted that he has installed a fiberglass body. Were waiting for the pictures still. In the rust belt it sounds like the way to go. Never rust again.

haha Grim, I like that. The rust belt. I'm glad I'm actually the shirt that the guys wearing and not his rusty belt. We do have some rust in Cali, but thats only if we take the paint off for whatever reason and dont re-protect it.

Its not a V-10 engine. Starting somewhere towards the end of the Blazer run (and I don't remember when), the GM code was no longer K5 but rather V10. Don't ask me why, but they did. Maybe someone else will know that. But, you will almost NEVER find anyone that will recognize it by that model name.

From what I was told by my local dealer the K5 & V10 codes were two unique features relating to the front end (??), of course, I don't know what that actually means. As I'm still new to Blazers, I'm still learning which parts and related codes I have in my Blazer.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

The "V10" designation came out in '88, when IFS was introduced to the "K" series trucks. Blazers, Jimmys, 'Burbs, and one tons all took on the "V10" designation, with the mighty "K" series drifting into a world of crummy A-Arm torsion bar oneness with the imports.

......And knowing is half the battle

Actually, the Suburbans were tagged "V" and "R" for 4X4 and 4X2, respectively (i.e. V2500, R1500, etc.). The V10/V15, I believe, is unique to the 4X4 Blazer/Jimmy.

Welcome to CK5, Penthos!

87 was the first year for R and V series. C and K were not used for that year. C and K started again in 88 with the new body and IFS. 87 thru 91 R and V were for Blazers, Suburbans, and Crew cabs that stayed the old body style.
92 everything went C and K with R and V being discontinued.

That's what I forgot...the years in which those designators were used.

Thanks for picking up my slack!
