Worked a 10 hour shift last night, got in at 0300, showered, ate, then hit the road at about 0445 and went and picked up my new toy, a 2003 Honda XR650R, then drove home and just got in about 20 minutes ago, so I was on the road for about 14 hours.........................

At least I got about 3 hours sleep on the way and let the wife drive.:D :D :D

There's already a pic of it posted somewhere on CK5. I think I'll wait until after I pull the graphics off to take any pics...............

Here are the current pics of it. I pulled the graphics off as I'm not big on the graphics end of things and have already played Baja racer through the front yard with it. Note to self, it's better to have open land when on new bike compared to many trees..........................:D

That's a pretty nice lookin' bike Bubba. I'm not a fan of graphics (stickers) on bikes or trucks. Is that a six speed? How many horses in that motor?:D

Five speed and I can't remember what the guy said, something like 57 horses. It's got an HRC Power up kit on it, giving it something like 10 over stock. It's probably not the first bike one should get as a beginner, but I started wanting one back when they were the XR600R and like surpip said, I got a really good deal on this one. Once I get the cold start procedure down, it'll be all downhill.

I've still got to set spring sag and tweak the suspension for my fat ass, but I'm really happy now. :D

    cold start
choke lever all the way down
2-3 kicks, do a light kick first, you'll hear a click, that's the auto compression release
soon as it starts to try to start, move the choke lever up one notch
kick it again, should only take one kick
let it warm up, they are cold blooded bitches, then ,move the choke up one more notch to normal.

Here's what the seller showed me, and I read about on a BRP e-mail list.

    Open fuel valve.

Tilt bike to the right (this is where the 280lbs of the bike really shows):D

Wait for the gas to run out onto the ground.

Move choke all the way up, find TDC with decomp all the way in and kill switch depressed.

Then release decomp, pull back slightly, move just past TDC, release all and let 'er rip.:D

Not gonna happen. Now I can roost 'em when I find 'em:haha:

This is what we used to do (and still do) with the CR500s but I've never had to do that with an XR of any year or CC.
If it's set up right you should be able to pull the choke on, get it over TDC and give it a GOOD follow through kick.(no pussy quick stabs at the kicker...kick like a man!:D )
You shouldn't need to be doing all that 2 stroke stuff!
