I was taken on this one. Only reason I am leaving it up is to warn anyone that hasnt seen this Email yet and to let anyone know that DID read this already.

Capt Crunch Emailed me today with this info. He had the virus, and by following the directions I found it on mine.

It gets past McAffee and Norton.... Now I need to find out what it does and how to fix the damage. Anyone have any info? As a side note...I have not recieved any blank Emails like Klez did to me a while back, but my computer had it.

Heres the Email Mikey forwarded to me.

Do not do this. I did this and messed up my stuff. Read up about it before you go deleting files. Do not pass this on please. The real virus is this email that floats around. You are deleting important material.
    HOAX!

Can you please change your post so that people do not read your first one and go about deleating things before they continue. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was talking to Mikey while I was posting the retraction. I think he found out himself shortly before i talked to him. He was a bit embarrassed I think.

It's a file used for Netscape...if you don't use netscape it isn't a big deal. I got the email from Solowookie and then Mikey 2 minutes later.

I knew it was a hoax and told them so only because I fell for it over a month ago/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Old virus, this one's been going around for a while.

When you guys get these virus warnings in email, take 2 minutes to search for it here:

    http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html

That's Symantec's (the makers of Norton Anti-virus) research center. If it's a hoax or a Legit virus, you can find out there. If you're getting a warning in email, it's very likely it's not new and SARC has it in their database.
As a loose rule of thumb, you can also assume 90% of the email virus warnings you'll get are hoaxes.
