Just wanted to post an official "HI"!

Picked up a 1974 "Camper Special":D 4x4 that I plan on making into a "Trail Cleanup" rig. (Longbed, heavy 3/4 ton, 14b, d44, 454, rust upgrade)

Not new to wheeling but it has been awhile since I had a full size. Last one was a 1975 K5. Currently have a TJ for my trail rig.

Might need some advice and help as I biuld this thing. Seems like so many of the posts here have bad links/pictures in them.

    Okay.....start the newbie bashing:wink1:

Over the last year or so the site has been upgrading and alot of the links and stuff have been getting messed up. At least it seems that way.

Our poster boy, jiminycricket, will have to help you get that rig all shiny. He's the GM of the Month on the Homepage.

Hey! There's somebody hiding behind the front of your truck!

We've got a trail run planned for Apr 8th. Your welcome to come along it whatever vehicle you'd like. Old Chinaman's Gulch.

    Welcome to the community.

    That's better.

Oh man I just typed in a Colorado discussion.

    Please don't be mad.

    :D

Oh yea. Do the wheels match on the other side? That'd be way cool stylin n stuff if they didn't. A different look from every angle.:haha:

Looks like a good starter and definate praise for the trail cleanup idea.:woot: :waytogo:

I bet you Zonies are welcome in our posts. The more people the more the fun! Welcome to the newbie and to you justhorsinaround! I have nearly as much fun reading your antics as I do the Colorado fellers.

Welcome. Newbie's aren't really shunned to badly around here. If you have any questions on how you should build this truck this place is a wealth of knowledge. Longbeds are a little different to build then K5's but all the principles are the same. Give a shout if you have any questions.

    Thanks guys.

I will have to miss out on Chinamann's. My Jeep will be in the off-road expo in Denver and then I am off to Moab for the week of EJS.

Thinking the truck will be pretty mild over all since I mainly want to use it for trail clean up projects. I would really love to do the "Rocker Box" project to it. However, I don't seem to have all the metal fab tools to do some of this stuff. Looks like I may have to buy more tools.:wink1:

Here is a quick pic of the TJ just for the hell of it.

Oh, and the wheels match now. For the moment anyway they are 2004 Duramax wheels with little itty bitty tires on them. (I need tires badly.) These were just to get it moving around.

The 33" Muds that were on the truck were in bad shape and did not match.

since justhorseinaround started it, I'll jump in with another 'zonie two cents worth. The short version:

Tuck the back bumper in and up as much as possible (assuming you don't want to bob the bed), chop up the fenders enough to clear 35's or 37's, maybe toss a Detroit in the rear axle, and hit the trail!

Props to you on the clean up work! :)

Not to derail, but - WOW! Saddle Rock, CO is B.F.E.

Hope you can join us on some runs, but that'd be a bit of a drive for ya.

Saddle Rock is really only a section of Arapahoe County and almost a part of Aurora. Pretty sure I can make it.
