    Help us help you please!
I don’t mind helping folks out with questions but you need to help us figure out what’s wrong. My mind reading skills went to hell years ago and although some folks swear I’m an omniscient being I really can only answer a complete question that gives me all the vital information.
Here is an example and I am NOT picking on anybody so do not take this as a personal attack if it may be similar to a question you have had.

"I’m suddenly getting bad MPG". That's it no other information. Seems straight foward.

Gee ok Hmmmm well you didn’t bother to tell us what year truck your driving, Your Bio isn’t filled out or it doesn’t mention that you have made a change and not running what your year model truck came with. Well heck, do I tell you to check your O2 Sensor, the TPS, your Mixture control solenoid or your parking brake or to tell your fat girl friend to take the bus…? Well I’m too lazy to answer all of those so I will pass up your post and so will a bunch of other people that have an answer that could help.
When you make a post always include information like My 86 truck but I have replaced the carb with a non mixture control unit from a 79 and I just put 36’s on my truck but have 3.08 gears. My 700R4 blew to pieces right after I got my wheels and I have a TH350 tranny now out of a 79.
Well Gee we can eliminate the mixtrue control and the O2 sensor ..3.08’s and 36’s is your problem and Hay you need 4.56 gears to get things right and the oversized tires smoked the 700R4 and now you don’t have overdrive with the TH350. You might also want to invest in a tranny cooler. Since the orginal question of I'm getting bad MPG didn't mention oversized tires you would have never got the correct answer.
Please include all information that could effect the issue at hand. It will help you get the correct answer and it will keep you from getting the wrong answer and wasting your time and ours with recommendations that are not going to help you solve the problem.

FILL IN YOU BIO! That way when your tired from your 2 am wrench fest and missing half your hair from ripping it out while trying to figure out what’s wrong with your truck and forget to tell us what you have we can figure it out.

And where the parts are located is always nice. If I can find say an axle that's local and the quy wants $100 more than one on the other side of the county it's still cheaper because of shipping. Sorry I don't buy much that I can't drive to look at before I lay down my cash.

While were at it, how about some more descriptive post titles? Since this isn't exactly the fastest site, the pages take a while to load, and I generally don't bother to look at posts with titles like "help", "neato", "bummer", etc.

OK, I'll admit I'm guilty on the bio, but its in my sig. On the Dodge Cummins site I belong to, most people have a breif description of their truck and mods in the sig, which really helps to understand what they're talking about.

I've also noticed that people often start a new thread about something that was discussed just a few days ago. People get tired of answering the same questions over and over. Do a search, and chances are you'll find what you're looking for, there's a lot of info here.

And another thing is to check out the information that the site already has posted. Like grimmy's right up on the heater core change out, or the tire fitment chart that is already posted to help with those questions about what size lift for these tires, etc etc. There is tons of information already here. Look at it before you ask the question. I know the search thing is time consuming, I understand that, but there is a lot of information in the spec and techs pages. Im stepping of the soap box now.

Will work for beer, parts and tools.

The search feature is great, as long as you can figure out how someone posted the information. It really helps out when the post is titled with the major component or driving force for the post. A post titled "HELP" might get some great replies that can really help the rest of us out but it's a killer when you need to go back 3 months looking for information that you know is out there somewhere.
