The DNR keeps trying to deny that people have seen cougars in Southern Michigan:

My brother sent these to me, that a buddy took in Martin, MI.
    Southwestern part of the state.

I got the same email, from family,,,

    Subject: FW: Big Kitty

From a guy out at Martin, SD. Pictures taken from his kitchen onto his patio deck. It was watching his little kids on the kitchen floor!

Cougars and people are the two big reasons I don't want to go hiking or whatever without a weapon. :deal:

Even though they're native to this part of the planet it's still rare to see them. When me and my buddy go wheeling we see tons of deer, quite a few bears and other wildlife...but we've only seen one Cougar. It crossed the trail about 50 yards in front of the truck and we were both too surprised to even think of snapping a pic. :doah:

One at my back door would have me pretty nervous!! :eek1:

I remember those pics from along time ago. But I dont think there were any kids on the floor being watched by a cougar.

I see cougars all the time. They are usually at the Silver Spike in Transconna or the Palamino in the West End? Not very rare and are damn easy to hunt.

The DNR says the same thing here, and people see Mt. Lions with radio collars on them. How the radio collars got on them without the DNR knowing their location is beyond me.

I see tracks pretty often when I am out on trails rides.

Have seen one a couple years ago.

Keeps the riff raff out of the woods.

belive it or not for years people have been seeing a black panther or some kind of large black cat in welland ont.

that is about 30 min from me.

there is a HUGE swamp there, i dont know for sure but i think it is thousands of acres, and every few years alond the outskirts people spot this very large black cat, there have been pics and video of it and experts have said that it is defanatly a large cat not a domestacated cat seen at a distance.

it has never harmed noone aside from a few missing pets so it is left alone.

that and the swamp is so huge and impenitrable you could never search it
