My steering box has a noise coming from it. Sounds like it's creeking when the steering wheel is being turned.

I checked the fluid and topped it off and also greased all the steering components.

What kind of trouble is this? I'm picking up another steering box soon but is this problem serious?

    TIA

The box doesn't look loose when the wheel is turning and I installed the weld on brace so that should be cool too. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

im not sure how these boxes go together, but it sounds like you could have a worn bushing/bearing in the box causing the noise, is it coming directly from the box? or maybe from the joint on the steering arm?

I'm thinking from the box b/c when I put my hand on it while it's turning, it feels like the noise and a little vibration (I can feel) is the same. Not for certain though. My drag link and the ball joint boots are lookin' pretty worn.

    Hopefully it'll hold up! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I think it's mechanical. Well, kinda like when you pull an old nail out of wood really slowly... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Or the sound of an old house making a creeking noise when people walk on old floor boards...

Sorry for the terrible description! /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

have you tried bleeding air out of the system? ie lid off resevoir, turn slowly lock to lock holding at each lock for 10 seconds, repeat 5 or 6 times?

What was the fix? Mine is doing the same thing. Pretty sure it's not a cracked frame.
