What do the disclaimers mean that say 'minor machining of the block may be necessary.' Don't suppose that's something I could do at home is it?

What set are ya lookin at?
The one in my 73 would have been a bolt on deal if not for the Ebrock aluminum timing cover.
That I had to take down a bit to clear the cam button and get some endplay.
And I drilled a .030" hole in one of the oil galley plugs to get more lubrication to the gears.
