Ok, I cant remember ever seeing a non power rear window in a Blazer. Do they crank down? Still need to open the window to open the tailgate right? Do it from the inside or outside also?

    Thanks

Yes they made a non-power rear window. I think you can only crank them from the outside though and yes the glass has to be down for the 'gate to come down

yes i own a 74 and as far as i know power rear weren't even an option. the window can only be rolled down from the out side and the tailgate handle is on the inside. but who neede a rear window when you're completely topless.

I have a '79 and it has the manuel rear window. There's a little latch that pops out and you crank it down and then the inside of the tail gate has a little handle that you pull to open the tail gate

My 84K5 has the manual crank..You can only open or close the window from the outside. You can also lock it with the door key.

Power rear windows were available as an option from '79 onwards. My '78 Cheyenne has power everything, apart from the tailgate window. I'll be replacing it for a later power version; it's rusty anyway, especially the internals.

My 77 has a manual rear window but mine can't even be locked. That isn't a big problem tho, not many people will mess with a rig plastered with Marine Corps stickers!! Not to mention various other anti-theft measures.

Ok, this what I thought it would be like with a manual window. All the Blazer's I have seen that were a little older, I never payed any attention to the rear window.

I do need the top sometimes though. When the wife goes in the middle of Februaury on our snow runs, we need a top and hear.

Oh, and mine is a '78 and it came factory with power rear window. Has the factory button on the dash. The power tailgate was replaced with a manual one from a Jimmy before I got it. Actually dont have it yet, but will in a couple weeks.

Mine goes almost all the way down....I have a tiny bit sticking out from the middle. I would say less than 1/8" sticking out.

My 87 is manual and goes all the way down. Doesn't really seem to be a problem not having power windows. One less item to ruin a good fishing trip!

How tough was it to convert to manual? I have an 87 too, and have considered this. What all parts did you need?

My 77 has a manual rear window. Most of the Blazers around here have power. Does anyone else have a broken crank in back. I have heard it's a pretty common problem

I have a broken crank in my 79 and I tell you I hate it. I finally found one in a J-yard, but it is in pretty sorry shape. I wonder if you can buy just the crank some where?

you can buy the crank from LMC or similar places. I bought one from classic trucks or something...it was a piece of CRAP!!! some cheap aluminum repro. it broke the third time i used it. so i went and forked out the cash for an OEM one, perfect.
it usually breaks when you are rolling the window up, when you reach the top the window stops but you are still putting force on the handle. over time it wears out the aluminum and snaps off. just be careful as the window reaches the top.
