Is anybody interested in having a Northern California Members phone book? I started one the other night after gokartergo had problems and his wife had to post for help. It's understood that some people are afraid of their info getting out to unwanted personnel. If you wanted to see the phone book you would need to agree to enter your info, also agree to not use the info for other than emergency uses and to not give the url out to anyone. If you have an unlisted phone number then for whatever reason then I would suggest not using this one for the same reason you got your unlisted phone number. I have a program that gives me every listed phone number in the country so if your number is listed it's not a secret to anybody if that's what your worried about. I know alot of us have already exchanged phone numbers but like in Dan's case he didn't have any of ours with him. This is not a big deal but would be nice for someone to have if in trouble around this area. You would need to PM me if you want the url to add your info.

Let me know what you think.

    Hey David,
Just as soon as I move back to CA (Sac) next month I'll let you know what mine is when I get a new number. I'm gonna try and get a list of people's E-mails so incase anything happens on the return trip I can also send a short E-mail from my cell phone.

Goldrush, I'm kinda like Burt on this one.. I have no problem at all giving my Home #'s and cell #' and address to anybody on this site. But I don't really want it posted on a site.. I know you are only going to give the URL to those who post.. But there are people on the net that all they do is surf. And can run accross it by accident... I think we should just do the by person thing.. What do you think.. After this weekend.. I am up for a list.. Thanks again Dan

If it ain't broke.......Don't fix it....

Lets just have one person collect names and numbers, and whomever is interested can ask for the list and have it e-mailed to them so they can print it out and carry in vehicle.

I don't know any of you guys but I'm definitely down for this!!! I live in San Ramon (east bay area) and there have been times when I ran into a "pinch" and definitely could have used some help or advice. Not to mention someone to go wheel with!! Just let me know what's going oin and I'll gladly give you guys my info. Thanks..and hopefully I'll get a chance to meet you guys sometime soon.

Barring the obvious privacy and security concerns.....I'd be happy to get added to the list.

I think there is definitely a risk of posting phone numbers, addresses, etc. On the same site where all the beautiful pics of member's rigs are. That's making it just a little TOO easy for the "would-be thieves" out there!!!!!

    EX:

Here's Greg72....he's got a lovely 1st Gen K5 with the following expensive upgrades (blah, blah, blah) the vehicle is parked every night at the following address: 123 Main Street, Anytown CA... He's usually asleep by 10pm, so please don't attempt your theft before that time! [IMG]

Just a rediculous example, but it illustrates the concern. Maybe the list could be accessible by "Orange Members" only? Another incentive to join, and at least there would be SOME degree of security that way? In a pinch, a member could help out a "known" non-member with a phone number from their directory....?

    Just thinking out loud...... [IMG]

I think one or two people maintaining a Master List of numbers to be used in an emergency is a good idea. I would trust Dan to give out my numbers if someone was up my way and needed some help. We can probably start some sort of phone tree where no one has all the numbers but you have numbers of people that have other numbers.....

I'll give my numbers direct to people I wheel with after I have met them.

I also think that 99% of the people who are on the site are OK but it is the anonymous people that pass through that prevent me from being more free with my numbers.

    CK5 Screen Name:
    Phone # home:
Phone Cell (if ya got it and willing to let it out):
what time available to help..ex. what time you are at work and cant really do anything to help:
    town located:
Neerest major town ex sacramento, san francisco, stockton, L.A. etc etc...just the major ones:
Most likly able to help with (ex..drive line, motor, or any other speciality you feel you are good at)
Do you have a place to work on a rig?
armed with basic tools at a moments notice?
spare parts you normaly have on hand?
if there is anything else you feel that needs to be added please do so.
