Normal tranny leak with a twist....

    this is on the camaro (big surprise...*rolls eyes* [​IMG]). it's got a 700 R4 in it and it's puking tranny fluid from somewhere, but the fluid level never goes down. WTF? We've been watching it for a while. It should be at least a quart low, but it keeps showing over full? Why is it always showing over full? And WHY is the level not going down when it's leaking like a siv? Any suggestions? [​IMG]

    If it keeps showing over full and keeps leaking, it is probably coming out of the overflow tube. I would drain it and then refill to the correct level and then see if it still leaks.

    when are you checking the fluid level, they are meant to be checked at operating temperature, engine running, transmission in park, if the engine is not running the reading on the dipstick will appear overfull.
    power steering units use atf as well, if you're finding it on the ground maybe it's the power steering instead of the transmission.
