Here's what Dell System Information says about the installed memory in my laptop:

    DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE, 256, 266, 32X64, 8K, 200

    I know DIMM, it's 256MB, 266 is DDR266 (I guess...), but what's the rest?
I'm buying another RAM module with my HDD from newegg.com; any brands favored? I've heard of Kingston and Corsair, haven't heard of the other brands they sell.
And of course, now that I've looked closer, neither of those brands on newegg have 256MB modules in DDR266...
***EDIT OK, looked outside the "Deals" section, and found many other brands in 256MB DDR266, including Kingston and Corsair.

I've used Corsair in all my builds, the entry level stuff, holds up well

I bought a half Gig from http://www.crucial.com/ back in the spring. That was the site recomended by the IT guys at work. I looked up what I needed/wanted at the Dell site, then ordered it from Crucial. Easy as pie! :p:

I have 1 256mb stick of ram that came from my Dell laptop that I just sold. It had 512mb....2-256mb sticks. I upgraded to 1gb...2-512mb sticks. Sold one of the old sticks to my friend amd still have one left. PM me if interested. ;)
