My truck now turns much sharper to the left than it does to the right. is it possible that the steering shaft got turned around 180 degrees. I would assume this except that the bolts connecting the box to the shaft are different sizes. (to prevent this I assume) Maybe 360 degrees? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif also my steering wheel sits crooked now when I am driving straight, almost like I have already turned a quarter turn to the right.

    Thnx again guys

you have the pitmam arm on 1/4 turn out

put the front wheels strait, pop the pitmam arm off the gear, the turn the steering wheel lock to lock, counting the turns , then turn the steering wheel back to the center of the counted turns, as close as possible, put the steering wheel strait, then put the pitman arm back on amd you should be good

In addition, you may have to adjust your draglink to get everything exactly center. Good luck to ya.

The pitman arm was never removed, I took the pitman arm off from the draglink. Would that still be the problem? I did use the pitman arm from the "new" steering box but it wasn't removed either.

I would still pop off the pitman arm and recenter, if it still does it, adjust the drag link to center the wheel

It sounds like they may have put the Pitman arm on 1/4 out of turn. center the steering box and see were the tires sit. you might have to take arm off and reset. Not uncommon from some reman houses!!

This may be a stupid question but how do you center the steering box? and the box came from a stock K5 that I pulled myself it wasn't a reman.
