NP-205 changing yoke...

    ...ok I can get a slip yoke 205 with a rear fixed yoke seperate from a 465 version. can this be done, this is the complete tail of the transfer that come additional. jesse

    78 K-10 383, TH-350, NP-203, Dana 70 front, GM 14bolt Rear, 4.56 gears(underconstruction) 78 k-5 stock and rusty

    Yeah, you can do it. The slip yoke to fixed yoke swap is a direct bolt in. Be sure that you have the aluminum seal retainer for the fixed yoke, the big iron collar (with the bearing and speedo adapter) is the same on both assemblies.

    I just did this on my truck. I already had the 205 out so I put it on my bench on it's "back" with the tailshaft pointing down at the floor. Sitting under it is a little awkward but by doing it this way I didn't spill any needle bearings coming out or going back in. Watch out, it'll be out of balance and want to roll off if your not careful.

    Just to clarify, my case was for a 4spd and the tailshaft came out of a spare automatic case that I have.

    thats what I wanted to know thanks. this is a slip yoke 205 with another tailshaft complete with a large gear, housing and yoke. thanks again jesse
