np203 question(emergency)

    I just blew out my front driveshaft, I am supposed to be going out of town tomorrow, roughly 250 miles round trip. Is it OK to pull the front driveshaft and run the transfer case in High lock for the trip. I have an NP203 w/turbo 350. Just want to make sure everything will be lubricated correctly. Thanks for the help guys.

    if you have the part time kit yes. i drove for 2 weeks in w/o a front driveshaft. if full time i have no idea

    Running in High loc with the front driveshaft removed should be OK. All the lock postion does is lock the internal differential. Have a great trip! [​IMG]

    But does he have to run it in high lock? Why not just in high? Just curious as to why.

    The high position is like having an "open" differential and trying to move the Blazer with one tire off the ground.

    The lock position is like engaging and ARB on the differential which would make the tire on the ground move.

    Make sure that NP 203 has motor oil in it, not gear oil, not ATF.

    why motor oil and not gear oil? also what is this "Hi-lock" like and ARB talk? WTH is an intrenal diff lock?

    B/c 203s uses Motor Oil NOT gear oil. If you have a 203, I hope you put motor oil in yours.
